This register and documents must also be kept up to date within tight timelines and verified annually. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/p><p>Pre-existing companies with their anniversary date after the promulgation of the amended Companies Regulations were required to file their beneficial ownership information with their annual returns.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p>Registers for new companies and amendments must be lodged within 10 days. This means that all entities in CIPC\u2019s register must have filed their beneficial ownership information by 24 May 2024 \u2013 one year since it became mandatory.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p>The Commission, citing a huge number of non-compliant entities that are yet to file their beneficial ownership and\/or securities register information, is enforcing compliance by implementing more serious consequences.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-7daf73b elementor-section-content-middle elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"7daf73b\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-settings=\"{&quot;background_background&quot;:&quot;classic&quot;,&quot;_ha_eqh_enable&quot;:false}\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-5f26996\" data-id=\"5f26996\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-94f0dc7 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"94f0dc7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\"><span style=\"color: #1AB4D7\"> Consequences of non-compliance\n<\/span> <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-inner-section elementor-element elementor-element-82fe024 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"82fe024\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-settings=\"{&quot;_ha_eqh_enable&quot;:false}\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-33 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-404da5e\" data-id=\"404da5e\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-565989a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"565989a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>A new \u201chard-stop functionality\u201d has been implemented by the Commission. That will prevent any non-compliant entities from filing their annual returns, which brings its own consequences.<\/strong><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><ul><li>The late filing of annual returns will incur penalties.<\/li><li>Banks, service providers or customers often require businesses to have up-to-date annual returns before engaging in business.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-33 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-cb2569b\" data-id=\"cb2569b\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-eff0067 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"eff0067\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>The Commission will take further and necessary enforcement actions with regards to entities which continue to be non-compliant, such as:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>investigation into the administration and governance processes of non-compliant business,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/li><li>issuing of compliance notices; and\/or<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/li><li>referral for deregistration and even final deregistration due to non-compliance.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-33 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-8fa40d1\" data-id=\"8fa40d1\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element
